A small step for Teuchert to the championship but a giant leap for Jones towards the IDM
Assen Sunday 9th August
In the weekend that will be remembered for the dynamic return to the IDM championship of Martin Bauer, the 2008 champion and pre-season favourite for this years championship and Jorge Teuchert being crowned 2009 IDM Superbike champion, a little further down the field a battle raged between the incumbent heroes of the IDM factory teams and the young men in privateer teams who will challenge them in the years to come.

Gareth Jones made his first front row start in the German IDM Championship at only his second attempt. After deciding to ride in the IDM round at Nurburgring on Wednesday Jones and the RT Motorsport team arrived on Friday lunchtime missing the first 3 practice sessions but once again the likeable young Australian got the measure of the track in quick order.

Round 3 of the ONK Dutch Superbike championship was shaping up to be a tough weekend for the RT Motorsports team. The Assen venue, which was host to the World Superbike Championship, was not only a points scoring weekend for the ONK championship but the team and rider Gareth Jones had been successful in their application for a wildcard ride into the fiercely competitive FIM European Superstock 1000 Cup.
